About Dore

Founded in 1978, Dore Academy is a K-12, college preparatory school devoted to the education of students with learning disabilities and ADHD. Our philosophy is centered on the principle that all individuals learn in different ways, resulting in an educational approach that must be unique and personalized for each student. To fulfill our philosophy, our teaching programs are highly personalized, and designed to help students perform at a higher academic level and achieve a stronger, more positive self-image. Strengths of our program include:

• Small class sizes and a student teacher ratio of 10:1, which personalizes the learning experience

• A rigorous academic program combined with a focus on building students' confidence

• Preparation of students for a variety of options after they leave Dore Academy

• Strong relationships with our families to deeply understand each student and form an individualized plan based on that knowledge

• Faculty who are highly-trained specialists in their academic areas

• Traditional coursework combined with innovative ways to teach and learn, including the use of technology in all classrooms

• The Orton-Gillingham reading curriculum with a teacher ratio of 3:1, which incorporates a multi-sensory approach to reading instruction

• Bi-monthly school assembly built around character education and development

• Dual accreditation to ensure that our mission is fully carried out in everything we do.

Dore encourages creative thinking and exploration of the world so that students develop a love of learning long after they leave school. This is accomplished through the Dore Signature Experience, a unique principle of Dore Academy that guides curriculum, assessment, social and emotional development, and our arts and technology program. We believe these facets provide a one-of-a-kind experience and contribute to the high level of achievement among our students.
